Description: When a school shooting occurs, the entire community and beyond are impacted. Communal Trauma places a complex, demanding burden on community therapists requiring specialized education, consultation and support. This workshop will focus on the specific nuances of Communal Trauma and sequelae of anniversary reactions, traumatic grief and loss.
Session One: (didactic training open to all therapists)
Attendees will improve their knowledge of Communal Trauma.
Attendees will improve their knowledge of Anniversary Reactions.
Attendees will improve their knowledge of selecting appropriate, evidenced based treatment interventions for Communal Trauma, Anniversary Reactions & Traumatic Grief.
Attendees will improve their knowledge of existential trauma and grief, moral injury, and the confounding factors to healing.

About the Presenter:
Deb Del Vecchio-Scully, LPC is a nationally recognized expert in the treatment of trauma and holds Diplomat status as a clinical mental health specialist in Trauma Counseling.
Deb is nationally known as a stress and trauma expert, having worked with survivors of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, as well as those impacted by the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Ms. Del Vecchio-Scully was a Clinical Recovery Leader and Trauma Specialist of the Newtown Recovery and Resiliency Team and was embedded in the Sandy Hook Elementary School as a staff support clinician for two years.
She has supported other communities following mass shootings including Parkland, FL (Stoneman Douglas High School) and Oxford., MI (Oxford High School).
She an EMDRIA Approved Consultant. Deb provides counseling (including EMDR) and neurofeedback at the Center for NeuroPotential in Branford, CT. In addition, she is active in training clinicians throughout the world.
